Little Creek (pastel 6 x 6)
For this scene, I experimented with hard board surface by making my own ground, which is first time for my pastel painting. Eventually, as I know that many artist use this method, I wanted to try myself sometime for pastel effect. I coated hard board with pumice gel and acrylic paints, and the texture turned to really coarse and interesting to me. I can feel the thick and wild texture passes my pastel stick and even little touch makes huge color effect and it is so fun and I think this is adequate effect for landscape pastel painting, as trees and grass are more effectively depicted when the texture is coarse.
